There's no denying hose reels make your life a lot easier. Not only do they spare you the hassle of tangled hoses, they also keep your yard or workplace neat and tidy. Here are some frequently asked questions about hose reels that will help you to understand and use your hose reel more effectively.

What is a Garden Hose Wall Mount Reel?
The Garden Hose Wall Mount Reel is designed to mount to the wall of your house so the hose pulls out perpendicular to (away from) the building. A nice additional feature of the garden hose wall mount reel is that you can mount it for either right or left hand operation.

What is a Garden Hose Side Wall Reel?
The Garden Hose Side Wall Reel is designed to mount to the wall of your house and have hose pull out parallel to (along side) the building.

How can I empty (get all water out) the garden hose reel for winter?
Simply disconnect the inlet hose from the water spigot, and open any spray nozzle, or remove it from the hose. The water will slowly drain out of the hose. You may also pull your hose off of the reel, and wind it back in at this point to help displace some of the water in the hose. Most of the water will drain out. However, you may still have some slight residual water in the hose.

How do I mount the reel properly to my wood siding?
If mounting through siding or any wood frame wall, you should always mount to the studs. You will have to use a stud finder, or other means to locate the studs. Our wall plates are pierced at 16" centers. 2-1/2" x 5/16" Lag screws are preferable. Be sure to use a 1/8" or 5/32" drill bit to make pilot holes for the lag screws.

How do I mount the reel properly to brick or stone?
For most applications a "Sleeve Anchor" attached to either mortar or brick will suffice. (Refer to the Brick Industry Association technical note - 44A ). We would suggest a 1/4" Sleeve Anchor installed in the mortar. It would be best if you were able to put one in each of the six holes. The reel would be considered a "heavy" "fixture weight" in Table 1.
